“Baby Found Dead After Father’s Alleged Abduction, Following Tragic Murder of Mother”
When two hunters saw a man “naked and making odd statements” in a sleeping bag by the side of the road, officers quickly identified him as Jeremy Best.
Deputies from the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office searched the area around his vehicle and discovered the baby’s body on an embankment beside the road. The cause of death has not yet been determined.
The tragic discovery was made in Idaho Falls, Idaho, at about 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, about 36 hours after the body of the child’s mother, believed to have been pregnant, was found. Best was detained at the scene and was later given medical attention for his injuries. The Teton County Sheriff’s Office was investigating him on suspicion of murder.
