Teachers and parents are outraged about special education kids’ field trip to a Cracker Barrel in Maryland this week.
Superintendent Maria Navarro stated in a statement that 11 students and seven employees from the Charles County Public Schools District in Waldorf, Maryland.
Were “refused service” at the Cracker Barrel restaurant on Tuesday. The excursion was a component of the district’s Dr. James Craik Elementary School’s community-based learning program.
Students in special education programs are able to interact with the public and practice practical skills thanks to the training.
In an email shared online, special education teacher Katie Schneider informed parents that the general manager of Cracker Barrel.
Told teaching staff that the restaurant “cannot accommodate to your group” and that it should be taken off the list of restaurants that are approved for community-based instruction.
