After losing Model of the Year to a white trans woman, a black contestant requests that she never be considered again.

Supermodel Anok Yai was upset when she lost to Alex Consani, the first transgender model to ever earn the title of “Model of the Year,” in 2024.

In a since-deleted social media post that sparked controversy, Anok later asked not to be nominated for any more British Fashion Awards and seemed to challenge industry prejudices.

Born in Egypt and reared in New Hampshire, USA, Anok received a nomination for “Model of the Year” at the British Fashion Awards, which are annually hosted in London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Fashion luminaries Kate Moss, Georgia May Jagger, and Cara Delevingne have all won the award before, and Anok did not win it in 2023 either.

According to a Tuesday (December 10) article in The Daily Mail, Anok faced up against Alva Claire, Amelia Gray, Liu Wen, Mona Tougaard, and Alex Consani this year.
