“All I Want for Christmas Is You” by Mariah Carey Makes a Joyful Move Returning to the top of the Billboard Hot 100

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” dominates the Billboard Hot 100 once again, jumping nine ranks to the top of the chart for the fifteenth consecutive week.

In a sixth Christmas season that breaks all previous records, the carol remains supreme. It was first released in November 1994 on Carey’s album Merry Christmas. As streaming has expanded and holiday music has taken center stage on streaming services’ playlists,

It first appeared in the top 10 of the Hot 100 in December 2017 and then, for the first time, in the top five during the 2018 holiday season.

Prior to this week, it finally ran over the holidays in 2020 (two weeks), 2021 (three weeks), 2022 (four weeks), 2023 (two weeks), and 2019 (three weeks).

“I completely had no idea the impact the song would have on a global scale when I wrote [it],” Carey observed in 2021. “I’m so thankful that so many people join me each year to enjoy it.”

Carey achieved her 19th Hot 100 No. 1 with “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which is the highest among soloists and one spot away from The Beatles’ overall record 20.
