Maps show that snow will cover a vast area of the UK on January 26 and 27, extending from the top of Scotland to Essex.
Snow levels of up to 15 cm (six inches) might fall on the North Pennines, while 10 cm could fall in the Cairngorms. In the meanwhile, there will likely be isolated hail patches.
On Wales’ west coast and milder snowfall in other places, ranging from 1 to 4 cm on lower land. The whole impacted region is several hundred miles, even though the snowfall was often rather light.
