As a result of a narcotics investigation into the death of Matthew Perry, the protagonist of Friends, five individuals were apprehended this morning.
In a press conference on Thursday (August 15), the US Department of Justice disclosed that the actor was exploited by a “broad underground criminal network” that sold him ketamine during the investigation into his death.
The United States Attorney’s Office has stated that Plasencia contacted Chavez, who had previously operated a ketamine clinic, in order to acquire the substance to sell to the actor after learning about Perry’s interest in it.
Plasencia enquired about Perry’s willingness to pay for the substance in text messages between the two last year, stating, “I wonder how much this moron will pay.”
He subsequently stated, “Let’s investigate.” The indictment also disclosed that in October 2023, the month of Perry’s death, his assistant was anticipating the arrival of a supply of ketamine from Sangha.
