As many flames, driven by extreme drought conditions and powerful Santa Ana winds, continue to blaze throughout Southern California,
Fire personnel are frantically trying to control the unprecedented damage, with at least 24 people thought to have died and over a dozen more still missing.
Several large flames are consuming 45 square miles of heavily populated Los Angeles County, and thousands of firemen are fighting them.
The biggest, the Palisades Fire in the Pacific Palisades, has damaged hundreds of buildings, burned about 24,000 acres, and is just 11% controlled.
With a current size of about 14,100 acres, the Eaton Fire in Altadena is 27% controlled. With 799 acres burnt, the Hurst Fire in Sylmar is 89% controlled.
Approximately 87,000 people are under evacuation alerts, while another 105,000 are still under mandatory evacuation orders.
