Children Are Being Forced to Switch Drugs Due to an Adderall Shortage

Children and teenagers’ prescription fills for Adderall have decreased recently, but not because fewer people are being diagnosed with ADHD. The children are just switching medicines,

So there are really more than before. In October 2022, the FDA in the United States declared that Adderall was in low supply. Since then, physicians have been compelled.

To provide children with ADHD alternate drugs. Prescriptions for Adderall also decreased during the epidemic, according a recent Pediatrics article.

Lead investigator Sijia He, a researcher at the Susan B. Meister Child Health Evaluation and Research Center at the University of Michigan, stated,

“Our findings suggest that the Adderall shortage did not cause many children to stop stimulant therapy altogether, but it did force some to switch to alternative stimulants.”

It’s too soon to determine whether these stimulants are having any negative consequences, he noted. “This could be a cause for concern .

If enacted, a recently proposed measure would prohibit abortion for all women.
