Despite the Supreme Court’s immunity judgment, a New York court affirms Trump’s hush money conviction.

President-elect Donald Trump claimed that a recent, broad Supreme Court decision on presidential immunity had thrown out his criminal case in Manhattan,

But a New York court maintained his felony conviction on Monday for fabricating documents to conceal a “hush money” sex scandal.

Judge Juan Merchan’s decision upholds Trump’s criminal conviction for the time being, despite the former and future president’s quick commitment to challenge it via a spokesperson.

Should Merchan’s decision be maintained, Trump will become the first convicted felon to hold the presidency on January 20, 2025.

The judge’s ruling invalidates only one of Trump’s several attempts to clear his criminal felony record prior to his January 20 return to the White House.
