An ex-MP has been arrested on suspicion of child sex offenses following a sting operation by online paedophile hunters.
Ivor Caplin, a former Labour defense minister who served as Hove’s MP from 1997 to 2005, was taken into custody in Brighton on Saturday.
Social media videos showed the 66-year-old in handcuffs with two officers around him, dressed in a black top and a bright red hat.
“We are aware of footage circulating on social media showing a man in Brighton being detained on suspicion of engaging in sexual communication with a child,”
A Sussex Police spokesman stated. According to officers, a 66-year-old man from the area was taken into custody on Saturday, January 11.
