Becoming the first Olympian to win medals in both the men’s and women’s races, a British athlete participating at Paris 2024 created history.
The first time Henry Fieldman, a Londoner, represented Britain in an Olympic Games was in Tokyo, when he was a coxswain and helped the men’s eight rowing team earn bronze.
Just in case you’re not up-to-date on your rowing terminology, the coxswain is the team member who faces the rest of the rowers as they propel the boat across the water.
With two World Championships and two European crowns under his belt before making an appearance in Tokyo,
Fieldman had an impressive record serving his nation; it was this success that allowed him to achieve history this year.
