“I hope to make it” to vote for Kamala Harris, said Jimmy Carter’s grandson, who is 99 years old.

Jimmy Carter, whose 100th birthday is just around the corner, has told his grandson Jason that he plans to “make it” to the polls this autumn to cast his ballot for Kamala Harris in the presidential election.

This Monday, during an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Jason—a former senator from Georgia—recalled what seemed to be a discussion that Carter had with his son, Chip Carter.

“Jason said,” Chip inquired as to whether or not Carter plans to celebrate his 100th birthday in October. Carter said,

“I’m only trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris,” as reported by his grandson, the eldest of the 22 grandkids born to Carter and his late wife Rosalynn.

On October 1, Carter will celebrate his 100th birthday, becoming the first president in United States history to reach this milestone.

Already the longest-lived president and the oldest-living president, the former Democrat is making history.
