After taking office on January 20, President-elect Donald Trump promised to implement swift and significant reforms, including pardoning those guilty of the assault on the U.S. Capitol.

He said that the pardons for the rioters from January 6 will take place on the first day, claiming that many of them had suffered unduly severe punishment while incarcerated.
