In discussing their horrific ski mishap that caused “permanent damage” and worry, Sam Smith admits they were ‘unable to walk.’

Sam Smith has spoken out about their traumatic and crippling skiing accident. Despite being seen strolling around New York City in January with a cane,

the 32-year-old singer—who has been out as non-binary in 2019—had been mum about the incident until now. Earlier this year,

the singer tore their ACL in an accident and had to be rescued from a ski hill. They disclosed this in a podcast interview that was broadcast on Thursday.

Sam went on to say that they had been preoccupied with “mental stuff” for the last seven months due to the incident’s “permanent damage” and the resulting “anxiety.”

Sam said on the BBC Sidetracked podcast that he has been concentrating on his mental health for the last seven months due to his ACL injury.
