The incoming administration is currently “reviewing” whether to begin removal operations in Chicago, according to the border czar for President-elect Donald Trump.
This comes after a number of news stories in recent days suggested that the raids might begin as soon as the day after Trump takes office.
Tom Homan told ABC News, “We’re reviewing any plans in Chicago because of the leak,” adding that the news stories could have jeopardized the safety of the officers.
According to individuals informed on the preparations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement had intended to begin post-inauguration raids as early.
As Tuesday, beginning in Chicago and then proceeding to other major cities as part of Trump’s border security policy, ABC News said.
