Pole vaulter speaks out after tragic event that denied him an Olympic gold opportunity

A competitor who lost his qualifying spot in the men’s pole vault event after accidentally knocking the bar off with his genitalia has spoken up.

French competitor Anthony Ammirati had a less-than-stellar performance as he took the stage; his crotch smacked the bar.

After clearing the 5.40-and 5.60-meter bars, the 21-year-old was hoping to go to the final, but his 5.70-meter effort ended in a somewhat terrible fashion.

The bar came tumbling down with him when his penis clipped it on his third effort, which was the most near-successful attempt.

Naturally, the whole action was recorded in excruciating slow motion due to the abundance of cameras focused on him.

In response to the Olympics committee’s criticism of the IBA’s gender eligibility standards, the IBA has fired back.
