According to police on Sunday, a robber tried to break into a Malibu property that had been evacuated by posing as a firefighter.
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said at a press conference that the alleged thief was apprehended after police caught him trying to break into.
A house in the Palisades evacuation zone. He is one of 28 people arrested on charges of looting since wildfires started tearing through Southern California.
The sheriff said, “I saw a gentleman who appeared to be a firefighter when I was out there in the Malibu area.” And because he was sitting down,
I asked him whether he was OK. I was unaware that he was in handcuffs. Since he was not a firefighter while wearing a firefighter’s uniform, we are handing him over to the LAPD.
He had just been apprehended for breaking into a house. Therefore, those are the problems that our police officers and deputies on the front lines are facing.
