Originally published by Alexandra Del Rosario of the Los Angeles Times (TNS) Shelley Duvall has passed away; her ear-piercing screams were key to many of the terrifying moments in Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 film The Shining. Her age was 75.
Duvall passed away in her Bianco, Texas, home on July 11, 2024, from problems related to diabetes, according to her companion Daniel Gilroy. According to Gilroy,
“She had been suffering a lot lately” and had spent months in hospice care. “It wasn’t surprising.” Discuss motherhood with other mothers.
And earn a living while doing it. “I consider her in a manner, and now she can simply take flight,” he said.
Among Duvall’s many notable film roles are those of Wendy Torrance, Jack Nicholson’s wife in The Shining, Annie Hall, 3 Women, and the live-action versions of Popeye and Popeye Jr.
After stepping away from the limelight for decades, Duvall finally got her acting career back in 2022 with a part in the independent horror film The Forest Hills.
