“Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” said Larissa Schaerer, director of the COP mission.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
There was no additional explanation of the ‘inappropriate’ behavior, but the 20-year-old is back in the US and attending college in Dallas, Texas.
Alonso has not commented on the rumor, but footage she shared on Instagram showed her heading towards a border control checkpoint, which might indicate that she landed lately.
Alonso owns the Paraguayan records in the 50-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter butterfly events, which is quite an accomplishment considering her brief career.
