The Blackpool waterfront is on fire, and residents are being warned to “avoid the area” by the police.

Firefighters are fighting to contain a huge fire that has started at Blackpool’s North Promenade. The public has been advised by police to stay away from the region of the city beside the sea.

As surrounding buildings on Wilton Parade, close to the North Promenade, have been evacuated, it is believed that a vacant old hotel has caught fire.

Currently, eight fire engines are on the site, and Dickson Road, which is close by, is also closed while the workers are working.

According to reports, the neighboring Imperial Hotel has been recommended as a location to stay for the evacuated inhabitants.
