Following a gender dispute that emerged following Imane Khelif’s victory in the women’s 66kg division, her father has passionately backed her.
Because she did not fit the gender requirements, Khelif was disqualified from competing in the Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi last year.
This event followed that.Along with Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan, Khelif is one of only two female boxers permitted to participate in the Paris Olympics.
On Thursday (August 1), the Algerian, who was born and brought up as a female, squared off against Angela Carini of Italy in the round of 16 battle at the Olympics.
According to her coach, Carini withdrew from the contest after 46 seconds due to significant discomfort in her nose.
