To promote equality for women in the sport, the Ladies Professional Golf Association modified its gender policy.
The LPGA circuit, Epson Tour, Ladies European Tour, and all other “elite LPGA competitions” will allow athletes who are “assigned female at birth” to compete starting in 2025, according to the circuit.
Through its cautious wording, the LPGA has included a proviso that permits players whose parents had gender-related treatments to participate, therefore not entirely excluding transgender competitors.
“Players assigned male at birth and who have gone through male puberty are not eligible to compete in the aforementioned events,” the tour said.
Therefore, the guidelines focus on whether a kid experienced puberty as a girl or a boy, suggesting that boys may have female-like puberty.
The LPGA claimed to have consulted leading authorities in the fields of science, medicine, sport physiology, golf performance, and gender policy legislation in order to establish its policy.
