Many members of Generation Z feel strongly that the thumbs up emoji is offensive and want its widespread use discouraged.
Do you have a favorite emoji that best represents passive aggression? In my opinion, it’s the traditional smiling face—that one has merely become more sarcastic due to all the iterations of even wider grins. :).
It should be noted that I belong to the Millennial generation; my perspective may be different if I were born a few years later.
An ‘unsettling’ Reddit post has brought to light the opinion that Gen Zers, or those born in the late 90s and early 2000s, see the thumbs up as passive aggressive.
The Reddit poster went on to say that they had finally landed a “real job” where they were often involved in Microsoft Teams meetings.
