The revelation of Keira Knightley’s actual age in Pirates of the Caribbean shocked many to their very core.

Now that her fans know how old Keira Knightly was when she acted in the franchise that catapulted her career to new heights, the actress has astonished them all. The world in 2003 was drastically different from what it is now.

We really were living in the dark ages when it came to social media; there was no such thing as Netflix or home streaming.

However, the early 2000s were unquestionably a time of great film. As one of the most popular franchises in the world prepares to explode in popularity. Pirates of the Caribbean is undoubtedly the show I’m referring about.

The first three films, on the other hand, are pure entertainment, including memorable scenes, fantastic music, and amusing actors.

Kiera Knightley’s portrayal of the lead character, Elizabeth Swann, is a big reason why the series has been so successful.

On the other hand, I can see why some of her admirers were shocked to learn how young she was when she landed the part.

What was your estimation of her age? Is it the mid-twenties? About to enter your twenties? Well, you’re in a good position either way. Filming for the film started while Knightley was only 17 years old.

“This must be a LIE,” one Twitter user stated, while another remarked, “Wtf, I never knew.” “When I watched the movie I thought she was older than me,” one third commented, referring to Disney.

Someone more exclaimed, “It’s hard to believe that Keira Knightley was just 17 years old when filming Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl began.” They also provided photos of Knightley in character.

Someone another said, “The fact Keira Knightley gave us these two iconic characters in the same year WHILE SHE WAS ONLY 17,” bringing to her role in Love Actually that same year.

Knightley has spoken out against the popularity and celebrity status that came with the original film’s and sequels’ success, saying that it hasn’t always been a positive thing.

The actress said, “I found it pretty horrific” in an interview with Variety in 2016. Being an introvert, I found the intense attention and celebrity to be rather challenging.

At that age, you need to make errors because you are becoming, you aren’t yet, and you are in the process of becoming. Women, in particular, are living through a very dangerous time.

To some extent, you are still a kid. My career was launched from that horrible experience. Even though she had a tough time at the time and in the years that followed, the actress said she wouldn’t change a thing.

Her 2018 interview with Variety read: “I’m unbelievably lucky now, and my career is in a place where I really enjoy it, and I have a level of fame that’s much less intense,”

Thank goodness I’m able to handle it now. It took a lot of time in treatment, but now I see how bad it was at the time.
