105-year-old great-grandmother runs 100 meters faster than anybody else in history at US Senior Games

The 107-year-old lady, affectionately known as “the Hurricane,” has shown no signs of letting her years limit her capabilities!

Actually, in November 2021, during the Louisiana Senior Games—a tournament for people over 50—Julia Hawkins established a new world record for the quickest 100-meter run. She was 105 years old.

She still seems to be going strong at the age of 107! According to Hawkins’s interview with WWNO, she hasn’t always been a runner; in fact.

It was one of her daughters who proposed that she attempt to run the 100-yard sprint in under 100 seconds when she reached 100. “And I accomplished it in significantly less time,” she said.

She ran the dash in little over sixty-two seconds at the 2021 Louisiana Senior Games, despite her goal of finishing under a minute five years earlier.
