James Earl Jones, who portrayed Darth Vader in Field of Dreams, died in New York at the age of ninety-three.

Darth Vader’s voice actor and star of Field of Dreams and Lion King, Darth Vader died suddenly on September 9 in his Dutchess County, New York, home, his agents announced to Deadline.

In Stanley Kubrick’s iconic 1964 dark comedy Dr. Strangelove, Jones made his big screen debut as a bombardier and went on to have a successful Hollywood career.

In the Star Wars movies, he never made an appearance on screen as Darth Vader; instead, the iconic black outfit was worn by professional bodybuilder David Prowse.

In the iconic 1994 animated film The Lion King, he portrayed the doomed lion Mufasa with his characteristic gravelly tones.

Jones is one of the many famous performers who have attained the highly sought-after EGOT status—winning three Tony Awards, a Grammy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and an Honorary Academy Award.
