Corbetts Cross, a race horse, passes away after a fall during the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

After suffering a catastrophic fall during the Cheltenham Gold Cup, race horse Corbetts Cross passed away.

Jack Kennedy’s gelding, owned by JP McManus, collapsed in the closing moments of Friday’s Festival main event, which was won by Inothewayurthinkin.

Following Springwell Bay’s fall in the Jack Richards Novices’ Limited Handicap on Thursday, the horse is the second to die this week.

“Our veterinary professionals promptly attended to Corbett’s Cross in our fifth race of the day, but regrettably, he suffered a fatal injury,” the statement said.

We send our deepest sympathies to his family. Ed Chamberlin, host of ITV Racing, also broke the heartbreaking news live on the channel.

However, Chamberlin said, “I’m afraid the news about Corbetts Cross is the news we feared.” This detracts from JP McManus’s victory with Inothewayurthinkin, which is very terrible.
