In an alarming new defense of his tariff increases, President Donald Trump claims that more goods must be produced in the US to ensure that the country is ready for “war.”

Trump’s assault on foreign imports, which is part of a push to increase American manufacturing and have more items created in America, has aroused recessionary worries.

In his most recent justification of the tariff policy, he implied that it was required to address any potential future conflicts.

Trump made the remarks on Air Force One on Sunday while discussing potential taxes on pharmaceuticals.
