In his most recent justification of the tariff policy, he implied that it was required to address any potential future conflicts.
Trump made the remarks on Air Force One on Sunday while discussing potential taxes on pharmaceuticals.
In order to avoid depending on China and other nations in the event of a conflict or other emergency, he declared: “We’re going to have our drugs made in the United States.”
