The death of a 9-year-old boy who was dragged into floods while trying to board his school bus sparked worries about safety in his Kentucky neighborhood.
Gabriel Andrews tripped and was carried away by swift-moving water on Friday morning, April 4, 2025, when he and his elder sister were making their way to their usual pickup location.
In the Frankfort neighborhood of Hickory Hills. At 6:35 a.m., the event was reported, and a massive emergency reaction was initiated.
Around 8:47 a.m., searchers found Gabriel’s corpse about half a mile from his last known location. At 9:16 a.m., the Franklin County Coroner’s Office verified his death.
Three days before to the incident, on April 1, Gabriel had celebrated his ninth birthday. He shared a home with his widowed mother, Racheal Tibbs Andrews.
