Police quickly burned their sister’s body and held a funeral after reporting that she had died of a drug overdose after going missing, but everything changed when a “random stranger” messaged them on Facebook.
In addition to having their sister cremated, a family in New York created memento necklaces by combining their mother’s and sister’s ashes.
They later discovered that the ashes belonged to a “stranger” and that the woman they believed to be deceased might perhaps still be alive.
After learning that her sister Shanice Crews was seen in Detroit months after police reported her dead, Rochester resident Shanita Hopkins opened up to WROC about her family’s predicament and offered this bizarre story.
Hopkins claims that after Crews stopped talking to her family and abandoned her two kids, they filed a missing person’s report in July 2021.
