After an 11-year-old girl vanished two weeks ago, authorities declared that a body had been discovered in the River Thames.
The body was found in Maritime Quay on Sunday, April 13 at around 9 a.m., local time, according to the Metropolitan Police, who confirmed this to PEOPLE.
In their announcement, the Metropolitan Police stated that the deceased had not yet been officially recognized.
“Kaliyah Coa’s family has been notified of this development, though, and is receiving support from specialized officers.”
Police stated, “An update will be provided following formal identification,” mentioning that Kaliyah’s family is still requesting privacy.
