The Vatican acknowledges the death of Pope Francis, the 266th pope in the history of the Catholic Church.
Francis, the Bishop of Rome, returned to the Father’s home this morning at 7:35. Cardinal Kevin Ferrell said in a statement on Monday that he had devoted his entire life to serving the Lord and His Church.
After the pontiff was admitted to the hospital with double pneumonia earlier in February, rumors started to circulate that he was getting ready to die. At the time, he was also receiving treatment for bronchitis.
While Francis was recuperating, a number of dignitaries paid him a visit at the hospital. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni claimed the pope was as “alert and reactive” as always.
