Residents of Sydney are awakened to trembling when an earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurs.

Canberra was able to feel the effects of an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 that shook the NSW Hunter Region overnight.

At 2.55 am on Wednesday, the epicentre struck close to Singleton, 208 km northwest of Sydney. Residents in Newcastle, Sydney, and even Canberra, 450 km away, felt the tremor.

On X, someone wrote, “Aww… felt the first earthquake in my life, in Sydney.” ‘Just was awoke by an earthquake in Sydney??’ said another.

More than 3,500 people felt the earthquake activity, which was only 10 kilometers deep.

Dozens of people in high-rise buildings in Mascot, close to Sydney Airport, reported feeling the tremors, while over fifty inhabitants in Wentworth Point reported feeling the shake.

People at Katoomba, which is located in the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney, said they felt the earthquake as well.
