Along the coast of Southern California, dead dolphins wash up on the strand.

California’s Los Angeles County Heartbreaking aerial photos from SkyFOX showed many deceased dolphins washing ashore on a beach in the South Bay of Los Angeles County.

What we know: On Wednesday, SkyFOX passed above Vista Del Mar as wildlife authorities examined three dead dolphins.

Near El Segundo, at least two sea lions have been found dead on the beach. Numerous birds and marine creatures have been washing.

Up on the coast of Southern California, and wildlife scientists attribute their deaths to a neurotoxin called domoic acid, or DA.

Rebecca Duerr of the International Bird Rescue said, “Unfortunately, this disease does cause brain damage when they get a heavy dose of the toxin and when it’s not treated immediately.”

Debris and runoff from the recent wildfires, according to experts, may contribute to the harmful algal bloom, which is then ingested by tiny fish and other animals and moves up the food chain.
