A woman from the UK has revealed a terrifying tale of how, while on vacation in Turkey, she “partially decapitated” herself and almost died.
Becca Reed, 25, was informed by doctors that she was fortunate to be alive following her near-fatal injury that occurred almost three years ago.
Becca is now preparing to run the London marathon this weekend to raise money for the Spinal Research charity, despite the fact that a US woman who has been decapitated inside is probably never going to entirely recover.
In 2022, while on vacation in Turkey with a friend, the public relations specialist struck her head on the pool’s concrete base while diving for the ball during a harmless game of pool volleyball.
A doctor informed her that she had crushed the C5 and C6 vertebrae in her neck after she returned to the UK after feeling dizzy for a few days.
After undergoing two surgeries and years of physical and mental rehabilitation, the young woman is now prepared to compete in this weekend’s 26.2-mile run in London.
