In Florida, a private boat collided with a ferry, killing at least one passenger and injuring several more.
On Sunday, April 27, police in the US state announced a “mass casualty event” following the fatal crash close to the Memorial Causeway Bridge.
Around 10 p.m. local time, the recreational boat struck the Clearwater Ferry, which was transporting 43 passengers and two crew members, before reportedly escaping the scene.
Authorities claimed that one ferry passenger had died and that the private boat had later been located by another law enforcement agency.
It is thought that the passengers aboard the Clearwater Ferry were returning home after the Sugar Sand Festival’s last night.
A few of passengers were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, according to a statement from the Clearwater Police Department about the event that was posted on X.
