Following a violent altercation with a neighbor over tree cuttings, police in South San Francisco shot and killed a Bay Area death metal music mainstay Monday.
Authorities with the South San Francisco Police Department verified to the San Francisco Chronicle Thursday that 60-year-old possessed guitarist Brian Montana was shot and killed after he pointed a gun at his neighbor.
Possessed posted a picture of the late musician on its Instagram Stories on Wednesday, writing, ‘Rest In Peace Brian Montana.’
(The musician is the one on the left in the tribute photo the band shared, according to the outlet Consequence.)
Montana ‘fired multiple times at officers utilizing a handgun, shotgun, and rifle,’ according to the police report. Officers returned fire while hiding in patrol cars.
After being hit, the suspect was declared dead at the spot. According to authorities, Montana used three firearms to shoot at them for approximately half an hour, as reported by CBS Bay Area.
