Kirk Medas, a Florida Shore star, passed away at the age of 33. According to TMZ, the reality TV personality died on Friday following two weeks in a Miami-area hospital.
He passed away due to necrotizing pancreatitis-induced liver failure. A severe kind of acute pancreatitis in which the pancreatic tissue dies is called necrotizing pancreatitis.
According to Cedars Sinai, it can be fatal, especially if the dead tissue gets contaminated.
Supportive care is usually provided as part of the treatment, and if the dead tissue is contaminated or creating problems, surgery may be necessary to remove it.
The celebrity was in a coma after spending time in the Florida hospital’s intensive care unit, where he also required a breathing machine.
