After the suspect allegedly stomped on the man’s shoes, he was fatally murdered on the NYC subway.

NEW YORK (TCN) — A man has been arrested by police on suspicion of fatally stabbing a subway passenger during rush hour after they argued over the suspect stepping on the victim’s shoes.

Suspect Luis José-Duarte and victim John Sheldon reportedly got into a fight on the No. 5 train on April 25 at 8:37 a.m. when José-Duarte allegedly stomped on Sheldon’s shoes, according to WPIX-TV.

José-Duarte allegedly drew a knife, stabbed Sheldon in the chest, and then ran away as the men continued to argue as they boarded the platform at the Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall station.

After being taken to a nearby hospital, Sheldon was declared dead. José-Duarte was apprehended by police on Wednesday, April 30, and charged with manslaughter, according to WPIX.

According to reports, Sheldon had 94 previous charges related to crimes on public transit, such as robbery, theft, and assault against transit officers.
