On Friday, police detained a guy in connection with the death of Aliza Sherman, who was fatally stabbed in downtown Cleveland more than a dozen years ago.
Gregory Moore, 51, Sherman’s former divorce lawyer, has been charged by a grand jury with killing the 53-year-old mother of four and nurse on March 24, 2013, when she was waiting outside his office building.
Six counts of murder, two counts of kidnapping, one offense of conspiracy, and one count of aggravated murder are all included in the indictments.
The hooded individual who is now thought to be Moore was never recognized despite being seen fleeing the crime scene on security footage. At the time, the case was still open.
In 2021, months after NBC’s “Dateline” highlighted Sherman’s story—talking with her daughter Jennifer, eight years after the murder—the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations took up Sherman’s case.
Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley issued a statement saying, “The Sherman family has been waiting more than ten years for answers regarding their mother’s homicide.”
