The ‘catastrophic’ crash that involving 11 motorcycle riders during a British Superbikes event unfortunately resulted in the deaths of two bikers.
On Monday, May 5, during the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship, a horrifying incident occurred as participants took the first bend, resulting in the deaths of Owen Jenner, 21, and Shane Richardson, 29.
After one rider lost control on the corner, the two were among around a dozen riders who fell off their superbikes, which have engines that can reach 200 horsepower, during the race in Oulton Park, Cheshire.
As doctors raced to the site, it set off a terrible chain reaction that caused several bikes to crash into one another and one car to even catch fire.
After receiving treatment on the track and being transported to the circuit medical center, Jenner, rider number 86, tragically died from a “catastrophic head injury,” according to organizers MotorSport Vision Racing.
