The incidence of suicide among police officers has grown in recent years. After suffering the devastating blow of not one, but two losses, one Florida family is desperately trying to move ahead.
Victoria Pacheco and Clayton Osteen were both deputies of the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. At the age of 24, Clayton had already served his country in the United States Marine Corps.
His attempt at suicide on New Year’s Eve landed him in the hospital. The former member of the SWAT squad and Floridian was removed off life support two days subsequent to his collapse.
Two more days after that, at the age of 23, Victoria too took her own life. She was well-known for her dedication to the arts in addition to her career in law enforcement.
After having a baby, Jayce, about a month before they passed away, the couple seemed happy than before.
