Over the summer, Ajala Shabazz, turned the big 1-3. The Birmingham, Alabama, girl was no doubt excited to enter her official teen years,
but the birthday gift she received from her dad made the milestone even more special. On July 4, Ajala was handed the keys to her very first home.
(That’s right — she got a whole dang house!) But it wasn’t because her dad is the spoil-his-kids-rotten type or was hinting that it’s time to move out. In fact,
the gift was all part of a plan to teach his kids about financial independence from an early age — something he couldn’t feel more passionate about.
That same day, the proud dad shared the news on Facebook. “Today I gifted my daughter with a house for her 13th B’earthday,” wrote Avee-Ashanti Shabazz.
“This was not random, it was planned. This marks the beginning of a family tradition where every Shabazz will be gifted a house on their 13th B’earthday, and taught to build it into multiple properties before they are legal adults.”
