Viewers of the lauded Netflix series are going so far as to say it’s “better than Game of Thrones.”

That age-old conundrum: after Game of Thrones, what will replace it? The popular HBO series may not have ended long ago, but it has been five years.

No need to fret, however; fans think they’ve discovered a superior program to take our minds off of the Westeros-shaped void.

And you know what’s even better? You can get right in and watch all five seasons—which stretch from 2015 to 2022—on Netflix.

Introducing The Last Kingdom, a program that resembles Game of Thrones and has fans who think it can hold its own against the epic series—some even go so far as to say it’s greater than anything that has ever come out of Westeros.

The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die is a Netflix original film based on the hit British television series that first aired on the BBC.

The Last Kingdom takes place in Anglo-Saxon England in the late 9th and early 10th centuries, unlike House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, which take place in the present day.

It follows the invasion of the English coast by Viking warriors and the subsequent warfare between Denmark and England.

The show was well-received on Twitter and earned an impressive 8.5 rating on IMDb. “The Last Kingdom” was one user’s social media post.

From the score to the historical combat staging, everything is presented in an astounding fashion; this season has been incredibly touching, and in my opinion, it is one of the greatest series ever.

A commenter said, “The story, the music, the acting, the fight scenes—everything is meticulously planned to bring forth a monumental historical saga, but it’s the little details that really make it stand out.”

“No character is ever completely forgotten, loved so many especially #uthred.” People started drawing parallels to HBO’s blockbuster series almost immediately.

“I adore this entire Series,” one commenter said. Watched it three times already. There doesn’t seem to be any other Netflix series comparable to Last Kingdom.

“It has out ranked Outlander,Vikings, Game of Thrones, Reign…” Not content to rest, fans flocked to the platform in an effort to demonstrate their support for the program.

“I adored The Last Kingdom,” one reader remarked. Great job. Exceeds even “Game of Thrones” in quality. The series concluded on a pleasant note, staying faithful to the arcs of each character.

“I think this series is better than Game of Thrones overall,” another person said. There were some decent seasons of Game of Thrones, but the most recent ones were hurried, uninteresting, or both.

“There were some good individual episodes in that though.” I believe it’s a stretch to call Game of Thrones “boring.” I really like the show.

However, even if The Last Kingdom doesn’t live up to my expectations of Game of Thrones, it is still an epic and you should see it.
