According to a sexuality expert, parents should obtain their child’s consent prior to changing their diapers in order to establish a “culture of consent.”
The suggestion was made by Deanne Carson during a segment on ABC News regarding the teaching of consent to young children. Subsequently, numerous viewers have expressed their uncertainty regarding the concept.
According to Carson, who identifies herself as a “sexuality educator, speaker, and author” on Twitter, a culture of consent must commence at the moment of birth.
Carson acknowledged that infants are incapable of verbal communication. She stated, “It is inevitable that a baby will not respond with, ‘Yes, mother, that is fantastic. I would be delighted to have my nappy changed.'”
“However, by allowing a space and waiting for body language and eye contact, you are informing the child that their response is significant,” she continued.
