” The 50-year-old was diagnosed with the condition at the age of 14. It is an inherited disease, which means that it is transmitted from one generation to the next.
Stargardt disease is frequently referred to as juvenile macular dystrophy. Stargardt disease is characterized by the degeneration of unique light-sensing cells in the macula,
known as photoreceptors. The central, or detailed, vision becomes indistinct or has dark areas. Color vision may also be challenging.
