Simone Biles’s birth mother publicly inquired about the gymnast’s ability to “move forward” as she discussed their strained relationship.

Shanon Biles, Simone Biles’s biological mother, has publicly addressed the gymnast in a recent interview.

Simone was adopted by her grandparents, Ron and Nellie, at the age of six. She and her siblings were placed in foster care as a result of their biological mother’s substance abuse.

Ron and Nellie also adopted Adria, Simone’s sister, while Ron’s sister, Harriet, adopted Ashley and Tevin, their other siblings.

Simone’s most recent documentary, Simone Biles Rising, discusses the gymnast’s tumultuous upbringing, during which her biological mother was repeatedly incarcerated.

Simone discloses in the documentary that she maintains an exceptionally close relationship with her grandparents, whom she affectionately refers to as “mom and dad.”
