A man accuses a hospital of stealing a portion of his skull and demands $19,000 to have it replaced.

A guy from Georgia is suing a hospital for allegedly removing part of his skull during surgery and charging him for a synthetic substitute that had to be replaced due to infection.

In September 30, 2022, Fernando Cluster, 62, underwent a treatment at Emory University Hospital Midtown in Atlanta that resulted in the loss of a tiny portion of his skull, according to a complaint filed by the Hornsby Law Group on his behalf.

As per the August 8, 2024 lawsuit, Cluster was diagnosed with “intracerebral hemorrhage” during a fainting episode.

He was consequently brought to the hospital to have a “decompressive hemicraniectomy.”

To relieve pressure on the brain, a “bone flap,” or small part of the skull, is removed during this treatment.

The lawsuit states that the fragment taken out of Cluster’s skull was 12 cm by 15 cm in size.
