Explosion of Delta Tires Son Says Dead Worker Was Unrecognizable and Depended on Tattoos and Lanyard for Identification

Mirko Marweg was almost unrecognizable by the explosion, according to his son Andre Coleman. Marweg was one of two employees who lost their lives in a plane-tire explosion at a

Delta Air Lines repair facility at Atlanta’s international airport on Tuesday. Andre discussed the terrible condition of his father’s remains after

the event that killed Marweg in an interview with 11Alive News following the disaster, which left two people dead and another critically wounded.

After the explosion, according to Andre, he asked to see his father’s corpse because he couldn’t believe his father was indeed dead. However,

the coroner informed Andre’s family that Mirko’s corpse was “unrecognizable.” Mirko was identified by officials using his tattoos and the Mississippi State lanyard around his neck.
