Five days before to the film’s premiere, Joaquin Phoenix speaks out about leaving a homosexual romance movie that had explicit sexual content.

Joaquin Phoenix has spoken out about his sudden exit from the Todd Haynes-directed gay romance movie that he was slated to appear in.

Phoenix had unexpectedly withdrawn from the production only five days before it was scheduled to start, as originally reported by IndieWire.

Variety was informed by an insider in the production that the Joker actor’s decision to opt out was partly due to what was described as “cold feet.”

Phoenix was supposed to portray a homosexual lover alongside Danny Ramirez, the star of Top Gun: Maverick.

This was supposed to include explicit sexual content, and the idea behind the movie was to get an NC-17 rating—the highest level of maturity for a movie to have while still being released widely.
